Best Games to Play During Lockdown

When lockdown was announced in the UK and across the world, many gamers were thinking the same thing: “we’ve been preparing for this our whole lives!” While many of us would have been told to “get a life” and get outside, now everybody is stuck inside wondering what to do with themselves.

Don’t worry though, lockdown represents the perfect time to revisit classic single player games, finish newer titles or play with friends and return to endless online multiplayer action. These are our best games to play during lockdown!

1. GTA V

We never need an excuse to pick up GTA V, but a lockdown has left us permanently living in Los Santos. Get in your car and drive around a city that isn’t in lockdown and do whatever you want - all the shops, attractions and events are open in Grand Theft Auto! Enjoy everything there is to offer on GTA Online and get all your GTA V cash you need thanks to DigiZani.

2. Forza

Do you miss driving? Yeah, we do too. That’s why we’ve powered up our Xbox and played Forza Horizon 4 so we can drive along British roads once more! With lots of events to complete and hundreds of the best cars in the world to unlock with our Forza Credits, there’s plenty to do during the lockdown. You might want to revisit the awesome Forza Motorsport 7 which is always worth picking up again.

3. Red Dead Redemption 2

Featuring breathtaking views of sprawling American countryside, there’s plenty to explore in the Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2. Even during a first playthrough, the game has so many secrets and places to find that you never see everything at first. Take the action into Red Dead Online and join your brothers in lockdown and earn all the Red Dead Redemption money your posse deserves.

4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Lockdown is perfect for a huge fantasy world that you’ll spend hundreds of hours on. The Witcher 3 wowed everybody when it was released in 2015 thanks to its excellent RPG elements, massive open world and incredible gameplay. The adventures of Geralt and Roach never looked better with stunning visuals throughout. The huge success of the Netflix TV series piqued interest in this game again, and now is the perfect time to finish ALL those side quests!

5. Max Payne

Talking of classic games, let’s go back to 2001. Max Payne took video game storytelling and third-person shooters to another level as players entered a dark, snow-filled noir New York City. Max is a man on the run as he uncovers answers to the murder of his wife and child, one bullet at a time. Relive bullet time and the incredible voice acting of James McCaffrey and yes, the grimacing face is still there today!

6. Fortnite

Yes, you’re probably playing Fortnite everyday anyway, but now you can play it for longer! With a game populated with more people than ever, you’ll enjoy hundreds of matches in lockdown, increasing your chances of earning that all-important Victory Royale!

7. Overcooked 2

If you’re stuck inside with other people, couch co-op games represent a chance to bring friends and family together for some gaming action. One of the best examples in this genre is the Overcooked series. Overcooked 2 took everything we loved about the first game and expanded it with more fun environments to cook meals for hungry guests. We aren’t sorry for the arguments this game could cause though!

8. Madden 20

The NFL season may have ended before the pandemic hit the USA, however there is doubt whether the new season will start later this year. That’s okay though because the season never ends on Madden 20! Enjoy many regular seasons with your favourite team in career mode or build your perfect team with all those store MUT Coins. You decide!

9. FIFA 20

Carrying on the sports theme, we have the football with a spherical ball as represented in FIFA 20. The latest game pushes authenticity further than ever before and with the reliable EA servers hosting all your online matches, you and your mates can still enjoy epic matches and squad battles. Lockdown is a perfect time to spend all your FIFA Ultimate Team coins and points to build the best team in the world!

10. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

It seems like everybody in the world is playing Animal Crossing right now and we can’t blame them. The Covid-19 pandemic represents quite a scary situation, so any excuse to visit a place of calm and pure escapism is welcomed by many. Craft items, go fishing and visit the islands of your friends in this real-time slice of harmlessness. The beauty of the Nintendo Switch means you can even play in any room of your house or garden!

11. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remains the pinnacle in online shooters. Its player base has also grown massively, with the timely release of the free-to-play Warzone battle royale mode which has left many players stranded in the Gulag. The main game requires your attention though and it’s a perfect excuse to enjoy absolute warfare with gamers locked down around the world!

12. Sea of Thieves

Do you miss getting on a boat and sailing across the seas? Well, not many of us probably did this before lockdown, but with Sea of Thieves you can have fun doing it at home. Become a Pirate Legend as you sail the high seas, embarking on voyages and hunting down treasure. Get all the gold you need to customise your ship and bring fear to those who dare to try and board you.

13. WWE 2K20

Do you remember when WWE programming had shows in sold-out arenas with fans cheering the face’s and booing the heels? It seems like a long time ago, especially after watching a two day Wrestlemania with no one in attendance. With WWE 2K20, it will take you back to how WWE used to be and hopefully will be again in the near future. Make your own epic shows in WWE Universe mode or spend time creating the ultimate superstar in MyPlayer mode and get all the VC you need.

14. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Shooting games don’t get better than the Halo series, so why not go back and revisit the classics in the Master Chief Collection. Enjoy Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo 4 all over again, which will transport you back to easier times. Enjoy Bungie’s incredible gameplay one more time and share it with your friends in intense online multiplayer.

15. Fallout: New Vegas

Yes, this may seem on the nose a little but as you’re trapped in your own home for your own protection, why not dig out a post-apocalyptic classic? Everyone has their favourite Fallout game, but we’re going with Obsidian Entertainment’s New Vegas. The various branching storylines of this game makes it instantly replayable, seeing how things would have played out if you had gone a different route. With tonnes of mods to be found online, if you have the PC version, you will never tire of playing this classic!
