The latest hit battle royale game to follow on from the success of Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is Apex Legends. From the developers of Titanfall, Respawn Entertainment have already taken the world by storm as 25 million players have flocked to their take on the battle royale shooter.

As expected, the game follows the staples of the genre with a circle that closes in to restrict gameplay space and create that tension with a sprint to the circle. Loot is all around as you battle to be the winning team. Apex Legends has its own unique gameplay feature which is the selection of unique heroes with their own special abilities.

Apex Legends Currencies

Apex Legends has three different in-game currencies: Apex Coins, Legend Tokens and Crafting Metals. This is the premium currency within the game and is only available with real-world money purchases from DigiZani and the in the game store.

Legend Tokens and Crafting Metals are earned during matches and through the Apex Pack system. After every match, you are awarded EXP based on performance which gradually levels you up the more time you spend in game.

Apex Packs give you a chance of earning currencies but you are more likely to earn cosmetic items such as skins, outfits and quips.

What Can You Buy with Apex Coins, Legend Tokens and Crafting Metals?

You can spend anything in store with Apex Coins without having to spend hours to grind to get them. However, not everything is purchasable because many smaller Legend items must be crafted using Crafting Metals.

You can unlock new characters (Caustic and Mirage) who are available for 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins each. Over time, expect to see more legends added to the game. Those wishing to get these characters without Apex Coins will struggle to see them for a long time.

The only way to build up your Legend Token and Crafting Metals supply as quickly as possible is to perform well in every match. The longer you survive, the more assists and kills you get helps bolster the EXP you earn. Faster level ups are then gained with more Apex Packs to open.

Battle Pass

From March, a Battle Pass will be available where players can purchase new cosmetic items exclusive to the pass.

Apex Legends is available for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A release date for Nintendo Switch is expected at a later date.
